On 1 February the Queensland Government launched their $130m Jobs & Regional Growth Fund. The fund provides one-off financial assistance ($100,000 to over $10m) in either direct grants or relief of State charges (eg payroll tax, stamp duty), and is available to support funding for early stage project development, through to assistance for developed businesses to expand their operations. A preference will be given to proposals that will maximise regional employment opportunities.

There is also available the existing $100m Back to Work Regional Employment Package that includes the $20,000 Youth Boost payment available to eligible regional employers who hire a young job seeker aged 15-24 years – but only until the end of February 2017.
